FAQ

Do you see patients in person?
No, Open Mind Wellness is a telepsychiatry practice. Our appointments are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant Zoom platform. We will send you the link before your scheduled appointment.

Do you take insurance?
Yes! We accept Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, Optum/United Healthcare/Oxford, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Oscar Health, depending on your state. We utilize billing services through Alma and Headway, and you will need to provide your insurance information to both Open Mind Wellness and Alma. While some steps in the process may seem repetitive, they are essential to ensure accurate and efficient insurance billing.

Do you take self-pay?
Yes, our fee is $300 for an initial visit and $180 for follow-up visits. Your credit card will be charged automatically at the time of your appointment.

What is your cancellation policy?
When you book an appointment with us, we dedicate that full time to you and never double-book. If you do not show up for your appointment or cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, you will be charged the full visit fee—$100 for the initial appointment and $100 for follow-ups. Your insurance will not cover this fee, and you will be responsible for the full amount. After two missed appointments, you will be discharged from the practice.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?
No, we do not prescribe controlled substances such as stimulants or benzodiazepines.

What ages do you treat?
We care for adults aged 18-64.

What if I am having a psychiatric emergency and/or feel suicidal?
Call 911, dial 988, or go to the nearest emergency room. Open Mind Wellness is an outpatient private practice and does not provide emergency care.
